Chuck Surack — Founder/Owner

Chuck Surack is the founder of Indiana Helicopters, the owner of Sweet Aviation flight training and aircraft rental company, as well as the owner and President of music-retailer Sweetwater Sound and the luxury-car dealership SweetCars. Chuck has been an aircraft enthusiast since childhood, inspired by his aviator father. His first experiences with flight were in his dad's Aeronca Chief, and Chuck can now often be found at the helm of his own helicopter.

Randy Sharkey — Chief Pilot

As a dual-rated Airline Transport Pilot in airplanes and helicopters and over 11,000+ flight hours, our Chief Pilot, Randy Sharkey, is one of the most highly qualified pilots in Indiana. In 2012, Randy was appointed by the Federal Aviation Administration as a rotorcraft Designated Pilot Examiner and currently reports to the FAA district office in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a commercial flight instructor, Randy is our Training Officer and company check airman for our charter division, Helimotion. Randy's enthusiasm for helicopters is exemplified each year by the success of Rotors 'N Ribs, an annual helicopter air show, where he serves as president of the not-for-profit corporation.

Tim Edmonds — Senior Pilot

Tim Edmonds has over 33 years of flying experience in both military and corporate aviation, as well as thousands of hours while flying on international, mountain, and overwater flights in helicopters and airplanes. He has a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is a graduate of the FAA ATC Academy. He also has many years of experience managing aircraft for companies ranging from helicopters to midsized cabin jets.

Mike Michelsen — Director of Maintenance

Mike Michelsen was born and raised in Iowa, and he spent five years in the Marine Corps working on CH-46E helicopters and MV-22B tilt rotor aircraft beginning. He is an A&P/IA (Airframe and Powerplant mechanic with Inspection Authorization), and he has his FCC license with Radar Endorsement. Mike moved to Fort Wayne in 2004, and has since spent time working at both Lutheran and Parkview hospitals maintaining the helicopters. He received factory training on Enstrom Turbine/Piston, EC130, AS365, and BK117, and is currently working on his helicopter private pilot rating.
